An Evening with Lisa Michelle Anderson

Lisa Michelle Anderson’s music is a masterful blend of Americana, folk, and rock, stitched together with the rich, varied experiences of a life lived far beyond her hometown roots in Southeast Kansas. Raised on the country and bluegrass melodies of Dolly Parton, Lisa’s early years were a study in contrast—a small-town girl with a global perspective, thanks to formative years spent in Australia, Iran, and Greece.

Recognition has followed her at every step. From being voted Best Singer-Songwriter by the Minnesota Music Academy to opening for legends like Warren Zevon, Marianne Faithfull, and The Jayhawks, Lisa’s career is marked by milestones that speak to her talent and tenacity. Her recent singles, including "Joy Callin'," have garnered critical acclaim –– (melodies that are “simply breathtaking” (Indie Press); “the most gorgeous lead vocals” (Vents Magazine); “one of the catchiest and most beautiful voices we’ve ever heard” (Bored City).

Her upcoming full-length LP, Get to Somewhere, produced by Johnny Irion, is a collection of lived experiences and true stories that shaped her. Stories about roller skating rinks, summer love, falling in love with someone’s voice, traveling to where Joni Mitchell wrote her song Carey, the family diner purchased in 1948, driving to California from Kansas at 18, and working as a knife thrower's assistant, walking around cemeteries, self-doubt, and the notion that tomorrow always brings another day. Get to Somewhere is about leaving one place behind and finding another, both in the world and within oneself. A journey across landscapes, through time, and into the heart, reflecting miles traveled and the weight of standing still.
