Creative Teens Creative Adventures

Teaching Artist

The Becket Arts Center is hiring experienced Teaching Artists (TA) to work in the Young Creatives Teen Arts Program. The program offers free creative workshops for teens ages 13-17 over the April school vacation week, April 21st- 25th. Each day, two different workshop choices will be offered and will be repeated in the morning and afternoon. We are looking to staff 10 distinct workshops and are open to the possibility of individuals being qualified to teach more than one day.

Applicants should be also interested in working with emerging teaching artists as an assistant-mentee to create a multigenerational creative pathway in the community. The mentees will assist during workshops and be provided with training prior to the program start.

The ideal candidate would have 5-10 years experience teaching youth and be experienced in one or more of the following art mediums: Circus, Hip Hop, Improv, Anime, Storytelling, Collage, Assemblage, Painting, Mosaic, Printmaking, Creative Writing, Fiber Arts.

Interested applicants must be available to teach 9:30-12, 12:30-3 at least one day the week of April 21-25, and be able to meet in person or virtually with the mentee assigned to them.

The Becket Arts Center seeks applicants to create a series of free multi arts workshops for K-12 students who live in Central Berkshire Regional School District (includes 7 towns: Becket, Hinsdale, Peru, Dalton, Cummington, Washington, and Windsor.

Support for this project is provided by the Becket Cultural Council and the Town of Becket.

Mentee/Assistant Teaching Artist

The Becket Arts Center is offering training and work experience to emerging artists and those interested in art education. This opportunity includes:

  • Training: Becoming a Teaching Artist, school etiquette, what is HIPAA, lesson planning, evaluation, classroom management.

  • Mentorship with an established teaching artist in the Creative Youth Teen Arts Workshop one or more days over April 21-25. (9am-4pm)

  • Opportunity and support to teach an afterschool arts workshop with Elementary students in May/June (2:30pm-5pm)

Working list of topics: Circus, Hip Hop, Improv, Anime, Storytelling, Collage, assemblage, painting, collage, mosaic, printmaking, writing, fiber arts.

The ideal candidates must be over 18, have some arts experience, be interested in arts education and in learning from an experienced working artist.
